Floris Remmen is dual nationality, both Belgian and Dutch. He received his BSc. from the University of Antwerp in 2012, followed by a MSc. Automotive in the same university by 2013. In 2014, he started at the University Of Technology Eindhoven to finally receive a second MSc. in Automotive Engineering by 2017. In this final masters, he graduated with a thesis titled: "Development of a Method to Predict a Cut-in Scenario for Automated Driving Assistance Systems". After this trajectory, he decided to join the VCA group as a PhD candidate in October 2017.

Furthermore, he was chairman of multiple non profit organisations, including KSA SJBT, where he led a group of twenty 20-year-olds for three years. His hobbies include 3D printing, gaming and helping out wherever he can with his ex youth movement. 

His research focusses on HD-mapmaking and localization, with an emphasis on camera imagery in intelligent vehicles. Currently, he is exploring ways to improve the current state-of-the-art in localization methods based on deep learning. As his thesis used several machine learning methods, he now uses this knowledge to create both new and already implemented architectures. His programming language of choice is python, but he can also work with MATLab and java.
